Star Wars: The Old Republic

Update 7.2.1 in Star Wars: The Old Republic Launches Galactic Seasons and PvP Tracks, Adds 64-Bit Client

Old and new adventures await players in Update 7.2.1 for Star Wars: The Old Republic, which kicks off with Galactic Season 4 and PvP Season 2 reward tracks. This update also introduces the 64-bit game client, changes aimed at improving the in-game economy, and, of course, new rewards.

The SWTOR team introduced the 64-bit client for testing some time ago with the intention of its final release and continuing development for more modern systems. The update supports systems over a decade old and fosters game development. Considering that Steam announced the end of support for older versions of Windows (pre-Windows 10), Guild Wars 2 is transitioning to mandatory DirectX 11, and other games made the switch over the past couple of years, BioWare’s decision makes sense.

Galactic Season 4 “A Passage of Peace” introduces the character Amity, a Force user on a pilgrimage. Amity is a human raised by Selonians, and his new journey is based on a philosophy of peace and cooperation. Progressing through the new reputation track, players will be able to collect notes of reflection, which can be exchanged for rewards. Amity is the latest companion, with other rewards including customization options, weapons, new titles, and possibly the Mek-Sha Hideout Stronghold.

If PvP is more your style, then PvP Season 2 “Piercing the Veil” will begin. This time, the track introduces changes related to the allocation of attacker and defender medals. PvP rewards can be earned throughout the season by earning PvP points.

Also in Update 7.2.1 is the first public release of the Credit Economy Initiative. The team announced plans for multiple updates; however, since this initiative is designed to help improve the game’s economy, expect some time between them.

Overall, Update 7.2.1 for Star Wars: The Old Republic brings plenty of new content and changes for players. With the start of Galactic Seasons and PvP tracks, new capabilities for systems, and improvements to the in-game economy, the game promises to become even more attractive and engaging for a wide range of players. Unique content and a variety of rewards maintain interest in the game, while the 64-bit client makes it more compatible with modern systems and provides a better gaming experience.
