Framework, known for its devices focusing on ease of repair and upgrades, has introduced its new flexible gaming laptop model – the Framework Laptop 16.
What sets it apart
The Framework Laptop 16 is a high-performance gaming laptop that offers users the ability to configure the device according to their requirements. Component manufacturers have the opportunity to create various modules that can be easily integrated into the laptop. For example, users can add additional storage space or a modular graphics processor.
The Framework Laptop 16 is equipped with six input/output expansion card slots, making it easy to modify and update components. Thanks to the Input Module system, the keyboard and touchpad can be replaced on the fly. This allows users to, for example, shift the standard keyboard and add a numeric keypad, as well as move the touchpad left or right.
Framework provides source code and documentation for components to enthusiasts, making the modification process even simpler. Unfortunately, details about the price and other specifications of the Framework Laptop 16 have not yet been disclosed. The laptop is expected to be available for sale in late 2023, with pre-orders starting in spring.
In addition, Framework has updated its Framework Laptop 13 model, offering a choice of 13th generation Intel Core processors or AMD Ryzen 7040, an increased 61 Wh battery, a matte display, improved hinges, and speakers. The price for the updated model starts at $850 for the DIY assembly kit and $1,050 for the ready-to-use laptop.
